Temporary closure of Angkor’s Phanom Bakheng Temple

Watching the sun go down over Angkor from this temple mountain has long been a must-do activity for most of the visitors to Siem Reap. Unfortunately, the large numbers of tourists walking up and down this pyramid’s steep steps everyday has led to the deterioration of the monument. In order to preserve and restore it, the Apsara Authority, in cooperation with World Monument Fund, has decided to close the site from August 01 2006. However, the Bakheng Temple will still be accessible from the north side only.

Pubic Taxi at Suvarnabhumi Airport

If you will be arriving at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport and wonder where and how to get the pubic taxi from the airport into town, please be advised as follows:

Taxis are NOT allowed to pick up passengers at the Arrival Hall (Level 2). All of you will have to take the free shuttle bus from Arrival Hall (Level 2) to the Bus Terminal where the taxi parking area is). However, this is only recommended for those of you who are traveling WITHOUT any luggage. For those of you who will be arriving WITH luggage - it will be most convenient for you to buy the tickets at the Limousine Counters (located at the Arrival Hall on Level 2) as you will be departing direct from the terminal into town.
