New Suvarnabhumi Airport

There are 7 levels at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport. Details are:

Level 1 : Bus Lobby, fast food shops and counters of the Association of Thai Travel Agent (ATTA).
All passengers who are booked with travel agents or tour companies will be picked up at this level.

Level 2 : Arrival Hall
This is where the immigration counters, customs, 23 baggage claim belts and limousine counters are located. It is also the place where the arriving passengers can take the free shuttle bus to the taxi/parking areas or wait for their relatives or friends to pick them up.

Level 3 : Gallery and Meeting Point

Level 4 : Departure Hall
There are 460 check-in counters, passport control and customs. All vehicles from tour companies will drop off passenger at this level.

Level 5 : Airline offices

Level 6 : Restaurants

Level 7 : Observation deck

It is worth noting that there are 120 gates at this new Suvarnabhumi Airport and there is NO train operating within the airport (like the one in Hong Kong) so be prepared for a lot of walking!!! We suggest that you should allow at least 1 hour after checking in for walking to your departure gates.

Are there any hotels around the new Suvarnabhumi Airport?

Many clients have asked us this question so lets put this question on the blog for everyone to see our answers.

Yes, thre are few hotels around the new Suvarnabhumi Airport. The closest one is “Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel” which is located around 10-minutes walk from the new Suvarnabhumi Airport. Orientalcompass.com will be featuring this hotel on our website in the next few days. Because of its most convenient location, this hotel is selling the rooms at the most expensive rates (around US$ 180.00 or so for the deluxe room which is the lowest category of the hotel) than any other hotels in this area. If you do not want to spend that much - we suggest you’d better consider some other hotels located on Sri Nakarin Road (which is about 20-minutes drive from the new airport) such as Novotel Bangna Hotel and Royal Princess Srinakarin Hotel where the room rates (approx. US$ 80.00-US$ 90.00 per night) are MUCH better than those of Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel.
