People still need help in the south of Thailand!
It has been over one year after Tsunami. I went back twice starting from early 2006. I went to Phang-gna to see if they are back to normal with all hotels running as well as full of tourists. It was not the picture that I thought. The town of Khao Lak was very quiet. Very few people were walking on the street and on the beach even though it was in January 2006. Phuket was not that busy as I thought but it was better than Khao Lak.
I went back again to Phuket in April before our Thai public holidays. I found that Phuket has more poeple walking around the beach and found much more Thai people enjoy their holidays. This was not happened before Tsunami to have this many local people supporting the tourist destiny like Phuket.
While I was staying there, I drove pass a billboard with a sign saying “Habitat”. I talked to my friend who works at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa. She explained to me that this is part of the programme to help people to have houses. Since it was started when Tsunami happened, this project will be ended at the end of this year. I am writing this to ask you all who are reading this and interested to join this project, please feel free to let me know. Marriott Group is an active particpants of the project as well.
I am planning to join them to build the house for a week (or as much time that I can spare). I always say that I wanted to do something and here it is …something that we all can help each other.
Have a good day:)
